< p > Josef Mocker (22 November 1835 Cítoliby - 16 January 1899 Praha) was a Czech architect and restorer from a German-speaking family. < / p > < p > He was a member of the Czech Academy of Sciences and Arts, he designed new buildings and he participated in many contexts and acquisitions of important temples and castles. He was one of the most important representatives of neo-Gothic, but at the same time he was one of the most controversial architects, because he was a supporter of the purist approach in the restoration of monuments. Among its advantages was the processing of quality documentation for each restored construction. His restoration work, however, has often been criticised by his contemporaries for moving away from the original character of the buildings. In his experience Josef Mocker wrote several publications on the issue of restoration of monuments. Since its inception in 1883 (1884) he worked in the Commission for the inventory of Prague monuments and as a member he co-created the first system of historical care in Bohemia. < / p >
